21:01:48 [WillCAD] Howdy Taginators

21:02:04 [WillCAD] Should I change my name to WillAnne?

21:02:18 [JennyAnne] Hey WillCAD...this is my first chat here...hope I'm doing this right!

21:02:29 [JennyAnne] Only if I can be JennyCAD

21:02:50 [WillCAD] All you have to do is read and type JennyAnne. The rest takes care of itself.

21:03:17 [WillCAD] That's too much like JennyCam.

21:03:19 [JennyAnne] Am I supposed to change the color of my font?

21:03:39 [WillCAD] Hey Suzy

21:03:52 [BetsyAnn] Hey WillAnne lol, Jenny and SuzyQ

21:04:06 [WillCAD] No, you can use whatever color you want. You can use the black type or change, whatever you prefer.

21:04:15 [BetsyAnn] You will do great JennyAnne!

21:04:19 [JennyAnne] Apparently Suzy didn't want to stay and chat!! Hey BetsyAnn!!

21:04:25 [WillCAD] Hi Pam

21:04:38 [DisneyPam] Hi...just so you know...I'm gonna only be 1/2 paying attention...gotta watch the season finale of 24.

21:04:40 [BetsyAnn] Hey DisneyPam!

21:04:55 [SuzyQ] Hello All - I made it! Greetings!!!

21:05:06 [BetsyAnn] DisneyPam> I am taping 24 - don't tell me anything! PLEASE lol

21:05:06 [WillCAD] That's what VCRs are for Pam

21:05:09 [WillCAD] WB Suzy

21:05:09 [JennyAnne] Hey DisneyPam and SuzyQ!!

21:05:31 [JennyAnne] By the way, how do I change the color of my font? I see the little rainbow thing next to "send"

21:05:57 [WillCAD] Just click in the rainbow.

21:06:03 [SuzyQ] OK Will, I'm all set to greet! Remind me what the Chat "name" is again (just logged on and came straight here)

21:06:05 [DisneyPam] just click under the color of the rainbow you like.

21:06:35 [JennyAnne] Like this?

21:06:41 [JennyAnne] Nifty!

21:06:45 [WillCAD] All-Lenses: Photos at Disney, or anywhere else.

21:06:59 [BetsyAnn] Very cool JennyAnne

21:07:21 [WillCAD] I like purple. It's the color of royalty.

21:07:33 [SuzyQ] Awesome, Will, can't wait to get started

21:07:45 [JennyAnne] Thanks BetsyAnn and Will!!

21:09:13 [WillCAD] I like to wait till about 9:10 or so to start the chat, to wait for late arrivals.

21:09:49 [BetsyAnn] So how was everyone's day

21:09:51 [WillCAD] And we're just about there, so who wants to start off the chat?

21:10:32 [DisneyPam] not me...brb

21:10:33 [JennyAnne] I had the day off, so mine was great! I woke up to the rain hitting the roof this morning.

21:11:22 [BetsyAnn] So, Will how does one get those very cool pictures at WDW like the one of you and Spaceship Earth?

21:11:57 [WillCAD] They're available in the WillCAD Gift Shop after the chat.

21:12:26 [SuzyQ] I have a question for ya, Will . . . When we are taking pics of the parades, the ones where the characters are in the sun turn out great, but when they are shaded, they turn out overly dark.

21:12:34 [JennyAnne] Your pictures do crack me up!

21:12:36 [BetsyAnn] LOL --

21:13:04 [WillCAD] The Spaceship Earth picture is an example of Forced Perspective. You stand in front of something, line it up in the lens, and snap the picture, making it look like the background and forground are closer together.

21:13:44 [DisneyPam] Suzy - you need to play with the flash - sometimes you need to use a flash if it is bright but your subject is shaded.

21:13:49 [WillCAD] Suzy do you have a point-n-shoot camera or something with manual controls?

21:14:08 [BetsyAnn] so you line up or focus on the background object - or the forground?

21:14:37 [WillCAD] Pam, that only works if the subject is close enough for the flash to light it up. Across the road in bright sunlight, the flash won't reach.

21:14:57 [JennyAnne] WillCAD - If you use a flash outdoors, is it possible to overexpose your picture. I always worry about that.

21:15:10 [SuzyQ] Will, I have basically your average normal auto-focus with additional choices like night, flash control, portrait, etc. Though I am never sure which is the best to use when. ???

21:15:42 [DisneyPam] True, Will. But she still might have a flash option on her camera that can help.

21:15:47 [WillCAD] BA, you have to focus in between so both are in focus. Manual focus works, and with cheap instamatics, they are already set to 'infinity' focus, so they work, too.

21:16:13 [DisneyPam] Suzy - what brand? And have you read the manual? I found that to be a huge help.

21:16:30 [BetsyAnn] Thanks Will - I will have to tryit with my "good" camera -

21:17:05 [WillCAD] Using a flash outdoors won't overexpose your picture. The camera will only ket in enough light to expose the film, but the flash may help to brighten up shadowed areas, as Pam said. But only if they are fairly close to you.

21:17:30 [SuzyQ] I think it's Samsung - we don't know where the manual is.

21:17:42 [JennyAnne] Hey Linnie!

21:18:04 [Linnie] hi everyone

21:18:22 [SuzyQ] Welcome to the 'All Lenses' chat Linnie

21:18:38 [BetsyAnn] So after the day parades -- what tips do you have for night time parades picture taking

21:18:49 [BetsyAnn] Hey Linnie!

21:19:05 [DisneyPam] Suzy - I have a Samsung as well....

21:19:18 [DisneyPam] actually, I have 2 Samsung cameras, lol.

21:19:23 [WillCAD] Suzy, you may be able to find a copy of the manual online. Many camera companies have manuals available for download on their web sites. Try Samsung.com and search for your camera model.

21:20:15 [SuzyQ] Good idea, Will - I will check out their website. Pam, are yours auto as well? (ya know - with little pictures of lighting bolt thingys) :)

21:20:21 [DisneyPam] Fill-In flash for night-time parades works well for me.

21:20:41 [WillCAD] Night shots of anything are the hardest. First, use a higher-speed film, which is moresensitive to light. 800 or 1600 will work. When a subject is close, the flash will illuminate it.

21:20:57 [JennyAnne] Pam, what is fill-in flash?

21:21:29 [BetsyAnn] I have tried that Pam - it is about 50/50 - Will - I have tried the 800 - will try the 1600 next time

21:21:50 [DisneyPam] JennyAnne, I really don't know how to explain it, but it helps

21:22:08 [JennyAnne] Pam, is it a feature on the camera?

21:22:13 [BetsyAnn] Will - how close with the 1600 speed film - should the shot be

21:22:16 [WillCAD] 'fill-in' is a term photographers use to describe a flash that doesn't actually illuminate the subject, but fills in the shadowed areas. Fill-in is a term really used for day shots, not night shots.

21:22:32 [DisneyPam] yes. My camera has several different flash options, including no flash at all.

21:23:26 [WillCAD] For instance: take a picture in a bright outdoor setting, but the sun is behind the subject, casting a shadow on their faces. Turn on the flash, and it will light up the shadowed area, making the faces visible and bright.

21:24:42 [WillCAD] When using 1600, you should shoot pretty much the same as you would with 400. It will be exposed with less light, making the picture a little brighter. It doesn't see in the dark, but it works with less light than slower films.

21:25:31 [WillCAD] Higher speed films do tend to turn out a bit more grainy than slower speed films. At 4"x6" print size, you hardly notice any difference.

21:26:02 [BetsyAnn] Thanks Will - I keep trying the night shots with mixed sucess --

21:26:34 [DisneyPam] I would disagree with that, Will. SOMETIMES you notice very little difference, but sometimes using even 800 speed film the photos are very noticeably grainier.

21:26:37 [WillCAD] Betsy, what kind of camera do you have? Is it point-n-shoot, or does it have manual settings too?

21:27:08 [JennyAnne] Will, does the same go for taking an indoor picture in front of a window (the flash should illuminate their faces)

21:27:38 [SuzyQ] How about a good digital camera? (affordable) We would like to take digital pics on our next Disney trip, but all the choices can be confusing. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good little digital?

21:27:57 [WillCAD] It depends on the subject, tha background, and the lighting conditions Pam. I have taken shots with 1600 that look like they were taken on 400, and shots on 400 that look so grainy you can't tell what's a person and what's a lamp post.

21:28:07 [BetsyAnn] I have three different cameras - a standard 35 mm camera that I can control everything on, a smaller 35 with more auto choices and a point and shoot with very little for me to control -- I tend to take the last two to Disney --

21:28:15 [SuzyQ] (BTW - you go, Will, taking all of our photo questions - you're da man!)

21:29:22 [WillCAD] JennyAnne, taking pictures in front of a window, the flash will reflect back, causing a big white blob. Standing at an angle to the window will reduce that, and the flash will light up the subjects faces.

21:29:57 [JennyAnne] Will, thanks...that always seems to be a problem for me!

21:30:07 [JennyAnne] Hello preachboy!

21:30:13 [preachboy] Hey all

21:30:21 [WillCAD] The SLR type camera, with all manual overides, will give you the best flexibility. It will have the slower shutter speeds needed for darker pictures.

21:30:22 [SuzyQ] Hey there PreacherBoy - Welcome to All-Lenses!

21:30:28 [BetsyAnn] Hey preachboy!

21:30:43 [SuzyQ] PB, we are chattin' about different types of cameras and film speed

21:31:17 [preachboy] This should be helpful. I am clueless here.

21:31:22 [SuzyQ] Welcome to the All-Lenses Chat, Frisbee!

21:31:24 [BetsyAnn] Hey frisbee!

21:31:34 [Linnie] Fris!!

21:31:34 [WillCAD] Suzy, I like the Fujifilm S2800 and S3800 digitals. The 2800 is about $300 and the 3800 is about $400. 3800 is a better camera, small light and 6X optical zoom.

21:32:09 [preachboy] For light work, I like my little Nikon digital.

21:32:19 [Linnie] ok

21:32:22 [preachboy] It is compact and easy to use.

21:32:36 [WillCAD] Only drawback to the Fuji 3800 is that it uses a new storage media, XD cards, which cost more than compact flash or smartmedia. But they are very good storage media.

21:32:37 [JennyAnne] On the topic of digital cameras, can you get these developed in stores or do you have to print the pictures out on your computer. I don't know much about digital at all!

21:32:38 [SuzyQ] Is the Fuji pretty user-friendly?

21:32:49 [Sheryl] Hello

21:32:51 [Linnie] frisbee says to tell everyone she is not being unfriendly. For some reason she cannot post in here

21:32:53 [BetsyAnn] Hey Sheryl!

21:32:55 [WillCAD] PreacherBoy, what model is your Nikon?

21:32:55 [SuzyQ] Hello, Sheryl - Welcome to All-Lenses!

21:33:04 [BetsyAnn] Is fris on AOL?

21:33:15 [preachboy] Let me look Will...

21:33:16 [Linnie] hi Sheryl

21:33:16 [JennyAnne] Howdy Sheryl!

21:33:36 [SuzyQ] Hi Again - Fris

21:33:38 [Sheryl] Fris, I swear we ahve esp

21:33:39 [frisbee] hi all...

21:34:02 [WillCAD] Many places will print out your digital pics JennyAnne. Most camera stores like Ritz will do it, and WalMart also does it. You can also get prints from Snapfish.com, Ophoto.com, or DotPhoto.com by uploading the pics to them.

21:34:03 [BetsyAnn] WB Frisbee

21:34:33 [JennyAnne] Hey frisbee...didn't see you come back in!

21:34:57 [preachboy] Will - I use a Nikon Coolpix 3500

21:35:08 [SuzyQ] Will, do XD cards hold more pics?

21:35:13 [BetsyAnn] So - convince me about digital - I am not very happy with the results I have seen turned into pictures -- love them for the computer

21:35:36 [Linnie] he Kelli!

21:35:39 [Sheryl] Hi Kelli

21:35:40 [SuzyQ] Hi KelliJ! Welcome to All-Lenses - we're chttin' about cameras

21:35:40 [JennyAnne] Oh, ok...my cousin always prints hers out on glossy photo computer paper, but I don't think they look good at all. I always wondered why they paid so much for a digital camera. My "regular" camera pictures looks 10 times better!

21:35:42 [WillCAD] Online photo places also make it possible to store your photos online and share them with friends and family anywhere. And your family can also order prints of your pics directly, saving you the money.

21:35:43 [preachboy] Good camera. Nice pics, cheap...

21:35:48 [BetsyAnn] Hey KelliJ

21:35:52 [KelliJ] Hi Everyone.

21:36:03 [frisbee] arrg!

21:36:17 [JennyAnne] Hey KelliJ!!

21:36:17 [KelliJ] I have had 35mm put on a disc and do some cool thing with the disc on my computer

21:36:33 [preachboy] Wal-Mart has a new machine that prints digital pictures using almost the same method as conventional prints. They turn out pretty nice.

21:37:01 [WillCAD] No, Suzy, all storage cards (XD, compactflash, smartmedia, etc) come in standard sizes. 16mb, 32mb, 64mb, 128mb, 512mb. A 16mb XD card holds ths same as a 16mb compact flash.

21:37:02 [Linnie] please don't say the cursed WalMart word, lol

21:37:06 [BetsyAnn] Does the type of Digital came make the difference?

21:37:12 [KelliJ] Don't they call it Alladin or some other Disney Name?

21:37:24 [preachboy] Wal-Mart is next to Heaven - Linnie

21:38:00 [Linnie] no WalMart is where I work preachboy...and today is my day off!

21:38:01 [Sheryl] quite truthfully I find that it is jsut as expensive or more to print up our digitial rather than get regular picture

21:38:26 [preachboy] Sorry. I used to be a CSM there. Hated every minute of it.

21:38:34 [WillCAD] BetsyAnn, you mean make a difference in uploadint to places like Snapfish? No. Digital pics are digital pics, from any digicam or even from scans of regular pics.

21:38:35 [preachboy] Well, almost every minute

21:38:44 [Sheryl] Fris is ahving trouble, she is trying to reboot, cant post, her screen turns white

21:38:44 [KelliJ] In the long run though Sheryl, I love the digital because you can focus in on things in the picture and enlarge them... like Pirates

21:38:45 [Linnie] but the savings comes into play because you can choose to print what you like....no rejects

21:39:11 [BetsyAnn] What browser does frisbee have?

21:39:34 [SuzyQ] That's a good point, Kelli.

21:39:36 [WillCAD] Since I've had my digital camera, I haven't printed a thing from it. But I've only had it for a couple of weeks.

21:39:42 [KelliJ] even when taking the picture, if you don't like it you don't have to save it and retake it then and there. That way you don't miss your photo op.

21:39:57 [Sheryl] BA...explorere, her Yahoo is on

21:40:06 [preachboy] I heard on the radio, that soon there will be machines that develop a regular roll of film, and put the pictures on a screen. You develop only the ones that you want. They said that this will be out within the next couple of months.

21:40:09 [KelliJ] I have one of those Kodak things with the docking station and love it.

21:40:23 [BetsyAnn] Let me try that again -- Do some ditigal cameras make better regular pictures than others -- Most pictures I have seen from ditigal are grainy

21:40:32 [WillCAD] I bought it because I was scanning all my 35mm shots and looking at them on the computer, then never looking at the prints again. Now I dont have to pay for processing, and still get the same thing.

21:40:51 [KelliJ] When I got my 35mm pix done at WalMart and had them put on the disc, i was able to put the disc into my DVD and watch them like an old slide show

21:41:04 [Linnie] definitely a difference Betsyann the quality of the camera makes a tremendous difference with digital

21:41:13 [WillCAD] Okay, different question BetsyAnn. Yes there are big differences in digital camera quality,

21:41:17 [JennyAnne] As far as developing photos, is it more expensive to develop digital photos at (sorry preachboy) WalMart than it is to develop "regular"photos?

21:41:19 [frisbee] trying again

21:41:25 [frisbee] WOO HOO!

21:41:26 [Linnie] hi again fris

21:41:32 [BetsyAnn] better fris

21:41:35 [Linnie] there she is, lol

21:41:49 [KelliJ] you need to clean out your computer Fris

21:41:49 [frisbee] Hopefully...thanks for all the help

21:41:49 [Sheryl] and she's BACK..LOL

21:42:08 [frisbee] My computer is getting a "bath" really really soon lol

21:42:18 [KelliJ] grainy pictures can also be from the type of printer and paper you use, couldn't it?

21:42:20 [WillCAD] When shoppping for a digicam, if you want a print of the pics, get a camera rated at 2 megapixel or above. This refers to the resolution of the shot, Higher resolution makes clear pics at larger and larger size.

21:42:21 [SuzyQ] It's great to have you back, Frisbee

21:42:27 [preachboy] Yah

21:42:43 [JennyAnne] frisbee, you know every time you go in and out you'll get all the greetings all over again!! lol

21:43:05 [KelliJ] That's why she does it JennyAnne

21:43:11 [frisbee] am very mad at computer...

21:43:24 [frisbee] :p Kelli

21:43:24 [Linnie] that is a really good point too Kelli....most printers are not meant to print photo quality prints

21:43:32 [preachboy] You can have a great camera, but if your printer stinks, the pictures still turn out bad

21:43:33 [BetsyAnn] Thanks Will -

21:43:40 [JennyAnne] aaahh...frisbee likes to feel the love!!

21:43:52 [frisbee] We have an HP 950...with the right paper...pix are pretty good

21:43:56 [KelliJ] Ok, I have a Kodak Easy Share LS443 with 4.0 mega pixels and 256 chip thing in it

21:44:25 [KelliJ] the pictures come out great, IMHO

21:44:26 [WillCAD] It's roughly the same price to print digital pics at WalMart as it is to get 1-hr developing. Of course, that's more expensive than the standard developing.

21:44:35 [frisbee] we download dig. pix every nite onto laptop when we travel

21:44:35 [Sheryl] LOl ahve no clue what kind of printer we have, but pictures come out pretty good, in my opinion

21:44:46 [KelliJ] (I just read it off the side of the camera)

21:45:01 [BetsyAnn] We have a Kodak at work -- great for online and computer -- not much luck with printing -- maybe try the Walmart to print

21:45:14 [WillCAD] That's a pretty good camera Kelli. My company has some similar Kodaks, but older. They take good pics.

21:45:18 [frisbee] ours is just a starter dig. camera...bought it for Greg to use last year at wdw

21:45:29 [Sheryl] Will, do you ever print up your own, or do you always get it done at Walmart?

21:45:49 [KelliJ] We just bought it in March (thanks to tax refund). I bought it because it was compact and easy for ME to use. LOL

21:45:54 [frisbee] I take mine to sam's...my 35 m. film..they are pretty good

21:45:56 [WillCAD] With an HP printer, it's best to use only HP paper and inks. Anything else gums it up.

21:46:25 [KelliJ] Very true Will.. I can vouch for that

21:46:26 [frisbee] I have to use HP will lol...it is what feeds us

21:46:27 [WillCAD] Sheryl, I haven't done either yet. I just got my digicam a few weeks ago and haven't printed any out yet.

21:47:20 [WillCAD] Fris, for 35mm I almost always use WalMart 1-hr. When in WDW, I use a nearby Walgreens 1-hr.

21:47:22 [KelliJ] Will, the camera I have can even take a 20sec video on it. Not sure what I would use that for... Why would they include that... Only 20 secs???

21:47:47 [Sheryl] ours also Kel

21:47:55 [KelliJ] <--- have to pick up pix at Sams... I have 14 rolls there from a month or so ago -- they called tonight to remind me.

21:48:15 [Sheryl] they want there money Kelli...LOL

21:48:23 [WillCAD] Sound bites Kelli. Some people just want to catch little sound bites and not whole shows. Its a just-in-case thing.

21:48:26 [frisbee] just picked up 30 rolls from sams a couple of weeks ago...big bill

21:48:57 [JennyAnne] 30 ROLLS...from one event or an accumulation?!?

21:49:00 [WillCAD] Mine will take video until it fills up the storage card. Of course, even a big 256mb storage card won't hold much video.

21:49:13 [preachboy] Speaking of WDW, where is the closest offsite place to get them developed?

21:49:16 [KelliJ] never thought of that.

21:49:16 [Sheryl] Hello tracy

21:49:29 [Linnie] hi tracy :)

21:49:32 [WillCAD] Let me guess Fris: Prom night?

21:49:33 [frisbee] 30 rolls...several months

21:49:36 [tracy] hello, is this the photo chat?

21:49:37 [KelliJ] Hi Tracy

21:49:50 [JennyAnne] Hey Tracy...yes it is!

21:49:50 [frisbee] yeah Will...Mitchell age 8 went to prom...he is such a stud lol

21:49:51 [SuzyQ] Hi Tracy, welcome to the All-Lenses chat.

21:50:02 [WillCAD] Hello Tracy, this is the photo chat.

21:50:10 [tracy] LOL fris!

21:50:28 [preachboy] Hey Tracy

21:50:30 [frisbee] last wdw trip...33 rolls and 528 dig pix

21:50:37 [frisbee] hi Tracy

21:50:37 [tracy] dang I am late, had to help Zach with homework and lines!

21:50:39 [WillCAD] Hey, these days, even 8-year olds have proms.

21:50:39 [KelliJ] Has anyone tried the Black and White C-41 film? I wondered how well it worked as far as quality

21:51:14 [Sheryl] and the limo too Will

21:51:22 [WillCAD] Preacherboy, I always go to Walgreens when at WDW. There are 2 or 3 of them just off site. Email me later for detailed directions.

21:51:24 [KelliJ] I know with my digi I can print B/W and Sepia but actual film might be better quality

21:51:46 [preachboy] Thanks Will

21:51:51 [tracy] what is everyones favorite photo op. at WDW, my goal is to take better pictures when I am there in Nov.

21:52:03 [preachboy] Gotta get back to work :(

21:52:12 [preachboy] See ya

21:52:15 [Sheryl] good question tracy, i'd like to nnow that too

21:52:22 [frisbee] bye PB

21:52:24 [Sheryl] by preacherboy

21:52:26 [JennyAnne] How are people putting emoticons into their messages?

21:52:30 [tracy] bye preachboy

21:52:41 [KelliJ] Tracy, I would like, just once, not to come home with 18 pictures of the Castle. Most of my pictures are of the same angle too. ROFL

21:52:43 [WillCAD] Kelli, any time you want to do something like that with digital, don't. Photo software on the computer will almost always do a better job of converting a pic to B/W or sepia than the camera itself. Just take it naturally and convert it later.

21:53:05 [tracy] that is how I feel Kelli, I have a great camera, but boring pictures!

21:53:05 [SuzyQ] Good question, Tracy - Ours is of funny little themes when we go - the last time it was benches. Yes, we took all kinds of funny pictures of benches in MK, Epcot, etc.

21:53:38 [frisbee] am still scrapping last years trip....and have filled 2 books so far

21:53:39 [KelliJ] Will, I am sorry, I mean with a 35mm and the film. I have played around with the Kodak photo thing. It's cool.

21:53:58 [WillCAD] Tracy, take a pic of Zach sitting on the bench with Roy Disney and Minnie Mouse.

21:53:58 [tracy] Jennyanne, click on the question mark at the bottom left of the screen it will show you how to get all the fun faces

21:54:02 [Sheryl] I'm afraid all of our trips will look like the same picture, but different year

21:54:15 [KelliJ] Tracy, our best pictures were when I gave Nicholas a camera at age 4. One of those Fisher Prices ones. The pix were priceless.

21:54:59 [WillCAD] Sheryl, that's a good thing. I love comparing pics from years ago to more recent pics of the same thing. Plus it can show your kids growing up.

21:55:14 [Sheryl] LOl Kelli, we did that last year, and I have pics of ladies chest by my Nicholas...then 7

21:55:17 [JennyAnne] Cool, thanks tracy!

21:55:36 [KelliJ] Terry must be proud Sherry

21:55:52 [Sheryl] Yes, will sometimes we plan certain pictures to compare

21:55:53 [BetsyAnn] Will - do you have any really cool places at WDW to get unusual pictures

21:56:02 [WillCAD] I haven't tried the C-41 B/W film yet Kelli, but I know Pammy has in the past and has gotten some very nice pics with it.

21:56:18 [KelliJ] We used to take pictures every time we were there by the flower card between the Emporium and the Sports store, Now that they together, no more card. :-(

21:56:33 [tracy] thats what I was wanting to know betsyann...I need cool places for unusual pictures

21:56:43 [Sheryl] oh us too Kelli

21:56:53 [KelliJ] I just wanted to try B/W because you can get some really good details with it for some reason

21:57:03 [WillCAD] Boats, BetsyAnn. Taking pics from the boats as you go between Epcot and the resorts, or MK and WL, or just about any other boat ride, gives a totally unique perspective: the Back Side of Water!

21:57:03 [BetsyAnn] great minds, tracy - great minds

21:57:26 [tracy] I have used BW film before and I love it, I have not used it at WDW though

21:57:33 [tracy] LOL Betsyann....of course!!!!

21:57:40 [JennyAnne] Will, do you need the higher speed film when you do that since you are moving?

21:57:43 [frisbee] I wish I had taken some BW pix last year

21:58:02 [Sheryl] tracy, we always take a picture of our boys in the middle of Main street with teh castle in teh background

21:58:05 [BetsyAnn] and JennyAnne I was just going to ask that! lol

21:58:23 [KelliJ] I used to love to take pictures from the Skyway

21:58:30 [JennyAnne] Again...great minds!!!! lol

21:58:32 [WillCAD] No JennyAnne, you're not moving fast enough on the Disney boats to blur the film, because in the sunlight the shutter speed is very fast.

21:58:49 [KelliJ] I usually use 800 film for everything

21:59:05 [Sheryl] we like to take the cameras with us on teh Water Sprites

21:59:30 [JennyAnne] I was just going to ask, is there any harm in using 800 film for everything, other than it being a bit more expensive?

21:59:36 [tracy] Zach wants to try and be flag family when we stay at the WL in nov. I wonder if they would let me take pictures from up there if we were flag family...I would think that would be a neat photo op

21:59:37 [WillCAD] Kelli, I use Fuji 400 speed. Fuji captures those bright WDW colors and blue Florida skies SO much better than Kodak!

21:59:53 [KelliJ] Really??

21:59:58 [SuzyQ] Another great picture op is taking a picture with a CM from each country - that way you can also see the different costumes.

22:00:05 [tracy] I ususally use 400 speed for everything, what does everybody else use?

22:00:06 [WillCAD] I used to love the Skyway, too. Oh, well... But TTA is a good photo op these days.

22:00:09 [KelliJ] what type of 35mm do you have?

22:00:16 [Sheryl] I don't see why not tracy

22:00:21 [WillCAD] I'm sure they would Tracy.

22:00:21 [frisbee] I always use fuji

22:00:46 [WillCAD] Great idea SuzyQ! I never thought of that one before.

22:00:48 [tracy] I always use fuji too, it is better in my opinion

22:00:51 [KelliJ] TTA'ed out. I need a new ride to capture the moment. LOL

22:01:06 [frisbee] I love my nikon...have an SRO and an all in one nikon

22:01:16 [Sheryl] Oh I can't think of the name of the building on Main street, but its the one you go to purchase the pictures they take for you..in teh back they ahve some wooden set ups for teh kids to pose with

22:01:22 [Linnie] that is my daughters favorite ride Kelli...the TTA

22:01:28 [WillCAD] I have a Canon EOS Rebel G Kelli. I also have a BIG 28-200mm Sigma lens.

22:01:48 [KelliJ] Nicholas likes that too. He calls it Little Space Mountain

22:01:48 [Sheryl] thats a good idea Suzy

22:01:50 [frisbee] I got the most beautiful photos of the italian manniquens last year

22:02:08 [KelliJ] I have a Canon AE-1 and a Vivitar all in one thingy

22:02:16 [DisneyPam] do you mean Masquerade, Fris?

22:02:20 [Sheryl] Hello Becky

22:02:21 [frisbee] Hi Becky

22:02:23 [SuzyQ] Hello Becky - you're just catching the end of All-Lenses

22:02:28 [frisbee] yeah Pam

22:02:40 [frisbee] have no brain tonite..is gone...am single parenting

22:02:44 [WillCAD] Tracy, you should also have pics taken with the various Lego creations at Downtown Disney. Sittingwith the sleeping man, standing next to the video guy, sticking Zach's head through the lion's mouth, etc.

22:02:45 [tracy] I have a cannon rebel 200 EOS too, I LOVE it! I have two lenses to go with it

22:02:54 [travis] Hi guys! :)

22:02:57 [Sheryl] HI TRAVIS

22:03:01 [SuzyQ] Hey there Travis - we're talking photo ops at WDW

22:03:02 [Sheryl] opps

22:03:36 [travis] great subject

22:03:42 [WillCAD] Rebel 2000 is a little newer than mine Tracy, but basically the same camera.

22:03:50 [JennyAnne] Sheryl, you sounded very happy!!! :D

22:03:51 [SuzyQ] oops with my opps! LOL

22:04:15 [Sheryl] yes double wammy Suzy

22:04:21 [tracy] Will we have zach sticking his head through the lions mouth and sitting with the sleeping man , they are GREAT pics!!

22:04:21 [Sheryl] rofl

22:04:25 [travis] i got a great photo in key west on our disney cruise........i entered it into a contest and now its in the finals....i have a chance of winning 10000 yippee

22:04:25 [Sheryl] triple

22:04:53 [DisneyPam] woohoo, Travis.

22:04:58 [tracy] how cool Travis!!!

22:05:04 [WillCAD] Another great photo theme is hats. Try the giant sombreros in Mexico, a tacky Goofy hat in the Emporium, and whatever else you can think of to look silly.

22:05:28 [WillCAD] Good luck Travis! If you win, will you use part of the prize to go to WDW?

22:05:28 [travis] they sent me a copyright and everything....i was so excited

22:05:38 [DisneyPam] IMO....anyone can get that great shot...so much of it is luck...being in the right place at the right time...and taking lots of pictures. Even professionals take several rolls to get one or two that they like.

22:05:40 [Sheryl] Oh teh colored wigs at RNR

22:05:48 [JennyAnne] That's awesome Travis!!!

22:05:48 [travis] actually i will probably get a car lol ;)

22:05:52 [frisbee] wow Travis that is so cool

22:06:16 [tracy] one of my friends went to a taping of Oprah today and it was an AWESOME show, it was a give away show each guest got over $5000 dollars worth of giveaways (I am so jealous) and they got a digital camera that prints out the pictures right from the camera!!!

22:06:28 [KelliJ] Good Luck Travis

22:06:40 [KelliJ] We do the hat thing every trip. It is another 'must do' in our family

22:06:49 [SuzyQ] ah man, Tracy - I love the give away shows!!

22:06:58 [travis] tracy........that would be a nice show to go too!

22:07:02 [JennyAnne] Wow tracy...my sister has been to a couple Oprah tapings (she lives in Chicago) but she picked the wrong ones to go to!!

22:07:16 [DisneyPam] wow, Tracy!

22:07:17 [BetsyAnn] Good point on the multi pictures, DisneyPam

22:07:35 [BetsyAnn] And hey travis -- missed you coming in

22:07:37 [tracy] yea, she had NO idea what the show was about, talk about LUCKY!!!!! the show airs tomorrow

22:08:05 [WillCAD] I agree Pam. My friend Frank, who is a professional photographer, always says, "Don't be afraid to BURN away your film!"

22:08:08 [travis] hi betsyann!

22:08:10 [BetsyAnn] And I can vouch for Travis' pictures -- very cool!

22:08:15 [KelliJ] Good night all. I have to clean up my scrapbooking mess and hit the hay. Take care.

22:08:19 [frisbee] I would end up on the show where you had to confess your worst fear and conquer it or the one with the depressing book lol

22:08:30 [frisbee] night Kel

22:08:40 [Sheryl] Yes, I have tywo who will not go to sleep

22:08:43 [JennyAnne] I have a quick question about videotaping, does anyone have a feature on their videocams that shuts the camera down because of humidity or moisture?!

22:08:47 [DisneyPam] goodbye kelli

22:08:47 [travis] lol thanks betsy ;)

22:08:53 [BetsyAnn] Thanks Will and SuzyQ for the great chat

22:09:04 [travis] i do jenny!!!!!!!!!!!

22:09:07 [JennyAnne] Bye kelli!!!

22:09:07 [Sheryl] thaks for the info all, it was great to see you again

22:09:09 [travis] drives me crazy!!!!!!

22:09:20 [BetsyAnn] Thanks everyone for the great input and information!

22:09:29 [JennyAnne] Hey Travis, have you had any problems using it in FL?

22:09:32 [Sheryl] nite

22:09:39 [JennyAnne] Bye BetsyAnn!

22:09:40 [WillCAD] JennyAnne, a friend of mine had that happen to him once a coupel of years ago at WDW. He just had to sit it out and wait for the moisture in the camera to dry out.

22:09:44 [tracy] LOL fris! I have gone to 2 oprah shows, one I wrote a letter to oprah on her website about her book club, it was a book about tourettes syndrome, and she invited my hubby and I to the taping of that book club review show!

22:09:50 [BetsyAnn] Good night all!

22:09:51 [Linnie] I have a few things that need my attention...so night everyone, it was great seeing you all

22:09:53 [travis] if anyone wants to see my pics........i will email you the site....... i just need your email address

22:10:05 [BetsyAnn] Have a good night and a great tomorrow!

22:10:21 [frisbee] bedtime for boys...may come back...thank you for having me

22:10:35 [travis] yes jenny.........a few times......normally in the morning...its noramlly better after breakfast though

22:10:44 [travis] i keep it open while we eat

22:10:56 [JennyAnne] Travis, I would like to...should I put my email address up on this board?

22:10:59 [WillCAD] Boy the crowd is thinning fast! Nite to all who are leaving!

22:11:04 [tracy] I wrote the letter because Zach has tourette syndrome, the other show was just a random show it was about the 25 most eligilbe alaskan bachelors, my single sister was with me...she was thrilled!!!!

22:11:33 [travis] jen that is up to you?? if not i will give you my email and you can email me

22:11:34 [tracy] I need to run too....good night

22:11:46 [JennyAnne] Does anyone know whether or not there is a way to shut off this humidity feature on the cameras?

22:12:01 [SuzyQ] Good nite Tracy

22:12:19 [JennyAnne] That's OK Travis...my email is jenschmucker@hotmail.com

22:12:30 [travis] nope..its a feathre that is always on........because the tape will not record with moisture in the cam

22:12:33 [WillCAD] I don't know JennyAnne, but it IS there to protect the camera from shorting out due to moisture, so I wouldn't do it even if you could.

22:13:23 [SuzyQ] I hope that you all have a great evening - it was great chatting with all of you!

22:13:32 [JennyAnne] OK...DH and I went on our honeymoon to St. Lucia and we got very little outdoor shots because the camera kept locking up. I want to avoid that happening again!

22:13:38 [WillCAD] Thanks for greeting SuzyQ!

22:13:55 [SuzyQ] My Pleasure, Will!

22:14:02 [JennyAnne] Thanks SuzyQ!!!

22:14:07 [travis] do you have a case for it?

22:14:37 [SuzyQ] All righty - we're heading out (DH reading over shoulder)

22:14:48 [WillCAD] Jenny, sounds like there might be something wrong with the camera. It should only do that when the moisture gets INSIDE the camera, which is bad, so maybe it's just not sealed tightly enough anymore. You might consider taking it to a service center for a look-see.

22:15:07 [JennyAnne] Yes, we have a carrying case. I didn't know if I would do better to put a towel around it or put it in a plastic bag. I would rather not lug the case around all day.

22:15:31 [JennyAnne] WillCAD, would we just take it back to the place we bought it? It's been almost two years.

22:16:06 [travis] i have heard of people putting it out on there deck at night.......some people did that on the cruise last year too......they said it seems to help

22:16:27 [WillCAD] Depends on where you bought it. You might have to look up an authorized service center for your camera and take it there.

22:16:53 [travis] ok jen.i sent you the pictures

22:16:58 [JennyAnne] OK...DH is out of town right now...I'll tell him to do it when he gets home. It's frustrating because it wasn't a cheap camera.

22:17:02 [travis] what kind of cam is it?

22:17:17 [travis] is it a cam or camcorder?

22:17:17 [WillCAD] Moisture INSIDE the camera comes from either humid air getting in and causing condensation, or from getting the camera wet from rain or water rides, etc.

22:17:51 [WillCAD] Humid air getting in is caused by bas seals, which hopefulla a service center could fix.

22:17:53 [JennyAnne] Thanks Travis!!! What's the difference between the two?

22:18:26 [travis] a camera just takes pictures and a camcorder takes movies

22:18:58 [JennyAnne] I don't know what kind of camera it is (that's terrible, I know) but I have a feeling it was condensation caused by extreme humidity (we were in the southern Caribbean)

22:19:13 [JennyAnne] Oh, HELLO...sorry it's a camcorder.

22:19:29 [WillCAD] You can also reduce this by remembering that going from cold air-conditioning right out into hot humidity is what causes condensation inside the camera.

22:19:39 [travis] if it was not cheap........i bet it was a SONY ;)

22:20:14 [JennyAnne] Oh Will...that makes sense. Is there any way to make the transition a little easier?

22:20:25 [JennyAnne] Ya know what, I think it is a Sony!

22:20:27 [travis] will..that is the problem I always have ;)

22:21:37 [WillCAD] It's the same thing that happens when your glasses fog up. You have to make the transition from cold to humid and back more gradual. Keeping the camera in the case will help, because a good case provides some insulation, and the air will change more slowly when you move inside or outside.

22:22:14 [travis] hmmm there is these packs you can buy to put in your case...but i don't know how they work....suppose to take the moisture out of the cam ;p

22:22:19 [travis] :p

22:22:26 [WillCAD] The mroe insulated the case, the longer the transition will take. But the shorter the transition time, the more likely you are to get condensation.

22:22:35 [JennyAnne] OK...I will let DH know. We were stupid newlyweds...I have a feeling we grabbed the camera and walked right out to the beach

22:23:06 [WillCAD] I've heard of them Travis. I think you can get them from camera stores. They are silica beads that absorb moisture from the air.

22:23:17 [travis] if it does happen..what i do is keep the tape deck open and keep in it a cool dry place

22:23:27 [travis] yeah that is it will!!

22:23:40 [travis] i wonder if they work

22:23:55 [JennyAnne] Thanks so much for your help you guys! I have to go...I'm in a summer class for grad school (Logic) Yuck!!!!! I have homework due tomorrow.

22:24:23 [travis] yeah i have to go too !!!!!!! bye guys!

22:24:28 [travis] :)

22:24:34 [WillCAD] They will keep moisture out of the case Travis, but if it's cool in the case and hot and humid outside, you will still get condesation when you take the camera out.

22:24:46 [WillCAD] Seeya guys.

22:24:52 [JennyAnne] I'll check out the pictures Travis! G'night Will!!!

22:24:53 [travis] that is what i was just tinking too will!!

22:24:57 [travis] lol

22:25:00 [travis] enjoy jen!

22:26:34 [WillCAD] I guess I'll be going, too. Work tomorrow.

22:26:52 [travis] lol nite will

22:26:54 [WillCAD] Live the Magic!
