Pressed Pennies Chat - January 11, 2004 - "Let's Talk Money"

21:15:12 [MargaretJ] OK I think we will go ahead and start the Budget chat. I am winging it so be patient.

21:15:28 [LimeGreenC] Pam, you'll meet another! Lot's of fish in the sea

21:15:40 [MargaretJ] New Year new Budget goals.

21:15:47 [DisneyPam] it is his loss, Cheri.

21:15:59 [LimeGreenC] * LimeGreenC is I can't dazzle 'em with brilliance I baffle 'em with.... LOL

21:16:03 [BetsyAnn] Pam -goal should be to always have a good time! ;)

21:16:36 [MargaretJ] Most of us have probably had extra bills, pay cuts, too much Holiday spending but we still want those Disney trips.

21:16:43 [DisneyPam] But the question is how to have a good time at WDW without spending lots of $$$....

21:17:06 [Barbd] Hi

21:17:12 [MargaretJ] Exactly Pam. How do we still get that great Disney trip without it costing us an arm & a leg.

21:17:14 [LimeGreenC] Hey BarbD and welcome to the Budget Chat

21:17:15 [Joe] We certainly do BA,

21:17:16 [BetsyAnn] Hey BarbD!

21:17:24 [MargaretJ] Hi Barb!

21:17:56 [MargaretJ] My number one goal is onsite. I am an official Disney snob & must stay onsite.

21:18:10 [DisneyPam] here is one budget trick for those of you who have annual passes and enjoy PI....

21:18:12 [LimeGreenC] I save money every week for Disney. Sometimes it's hard to do, but I try to pretend it is a "bill" and pay myself

21:18:33 [BetsyAnn] It seems like AP holders can get great rates and make it cost effective to stay on site

21:18:35 [LimeGreenC] what is the trick Pam?

21:19:01 [DisneyPam] Go on Friday. On Fridays, at least in the off season, AP holders (not PAP, regular AP) can get into PI for free. Check at the PI entrance.

21:19:24 [DisneyPam] If you are a PI AP holder or a PAP holder, you get to bring a friend in for free on Fridays. :)

21:19:27 [MargaretJ] I did not know that Pammy.

21:19:31 [LimeGreenC] My AP will have almost paid for itself after our Spring Break trip

21:19:35 [MargaretJ] When is the off season?

21:20:03 [LimeGreenC] I didn't know that either Pammy

21:20:21 [BetsyAnn] Cool Pam

21:20:31 [DisneyPam] I'm not 100% certain AP still gets free Fridays but I know they have in the past. I know for sure PAP/PI-AP get to bring a friend free on Fridays. Test drove that offer on Friday. :D ;)

21:20:35 [MargaretJ] I have never been to Pleasure Island. Always go with my son & I have always thought he was too young.

21:20:35 [Joe] Great tip Pammy

21:21:08 [BetsyAnn] Value season is January to early Feb

21:21:19 [DisneyPam] MJ - there was a little one - about 6 at PI at CLOSING! I wanted to smack the parent.

21:21:26 [BetsyAnn] end of August ot beginning of OCt

21:21:37 [MargaretJ] Matt is almost 15 so he may be getting closer but 6 is too young.

21:21:38 [LimeGreenC] MJ, I saw people there with kids that were young, it really is an adult atmosphere

21:21:50 [BetsyAnn] November (except thanksgiving) till mid Dec

21:22:12 [DisneyPam] MJ - I think he would be okay for the most part...

21:22:18 [MargaretJ] What age do you guys think is appropriate for kids at PI. Early shows only. He will be 15 in Feb.

21:22:39 [BetsyAnn] PI is very adult orientated - mainly because of the alchol I think -- but I think a 15 or 16 yr old may find some things to do

21:22:40 [Barbd] I have ahard time with Pleasure Island the only time I was ever there at night they was alking around selling shots of Alcohol in little syringes. Its not the drinking that bothered me even though I dont drink its the syringes that botheres me

21:22:41 [LimeGreenC] I thought you had to be 21 to get into PI, at least until this last trip when I saw kids there

21:22:54 [DisneyPam] 15 should be okay - I'd stick to Adventurer's club, Jazz Club and Comedy Warehouse

21:22:58 [Joe] Really LGC? I had a question on another board about taking a 12 yo to the Adventurers Club. Wanted to know if it would be appropriate.

21:23:02 [MargaretJ] I think I would only go if there were a group of us going & some of them had older kids too.

21:23:38 [MargaretJ] OK sorry I got off the Budget Chat - getting back on track now.

21:23:50 [LimeGreenC] Joe, I don't think first off that a 12 year old would get the humor in the Adventurers club. And 2nd it's the innuendo, that I wouldn't want to have to explain

21:23:52 [MargaretJ] Here is my AP tip, but you probably already know this.

21:24:16 [BetsyAnn] I think a 12 year would miss most of the sexual overtones at AC and maybe the Comeday Warehous

21:24:29 [Joe] That was my thought, thanks for the confirmation.

21:24:31 [MargaretJ] Go on first trip in June for your long trip then go the next year in May.

21:24:57 [LimeGreenC] YW Joe, but each kid is different

21:25:03 [BetsyAnn] Love that tip MJ!

21:25:17 [MargaretJ] I got 9 days in June of 2002, 4 in Dec of 2002 & then 10 in May/June of 2003.

21:25:22 [LimeGreenC] MJ, that is a good tip and for us, we're getting 3 trips out of our AP's! Yeah!!!!

21:25:26 [Barbd] My best budget trick is to carry my collapsable cooler and zipclock bags (gallon Size) I double bag the ice to keep it from leaking into the cooler and then I use the cooler to carry home laundry. We fly and it was checked as one of our luggages no problem

21:25:30 [Joe] Great idea MJ, I'm always ready....LOL

21:25:57 [LimeGreenC] I always forget that you get a discount at some resturants with the AP

21:26:11 [MargaretJ] Good idea Barb

21:26:16 [LimeGreenC] I'm thinking we could have gotten one at Marrakesh that day

21:26:26 [MargaretJ] I forget that sometimes too Cheri

21:26:49 [LimeGreenC] Barb, do you carry the cooler into the parks?

21:26:59 [MargaretJ] Oh you are probably right, but I did not have an AP for our Dec trip. I had Disney Club so we probably could have gotten something.

21:27:29 [MargaretJ] What other things can save us money while at the world but still let us enjoy ourselves.

21:27:30 [Barbd] No We use it in the hotel for things like lunch meat, yogurt, milk and Diet PEPSI!! I hate coke

21:27:33 [LimeGreenC] Hey alikat, Welcome to the Budget chat

21:27:39 [MargaretJ] Hey alikat

21:27:48 [Barbd] I dont beleive in carrying anything but a camera to the parks

21:27:54 [Barbd] Hi Alikat

21:27:54 [alikat] hello everyone :)

21:27:57 [DisneyPam] if you like Chinese food, they have a combo meal at the sit-down restaurant that is a good deal for lunch. Do a late lunch - 3ish, and get this...it comes with soup and 3 entrees for 2 ppl. I never get it b/c I only ever go alone. LOL

21:28:02 [LimeGreenC] hate coke? that is blasphemy :D (georgian here ya know LOL)

21:28:05 [MargaretJ] Watch out Barb you talking to a couple of Atlanta girls - home of Coke!!!!

21:28:34 [Barbd] :-)

21:28:40 [MargaretJ] I think I may want to try that one this trip Pammy. Nine Dragons - right?

21:28:45 [Barbd] :)

21:28:52 [LimeGreenC] Joe, what's your best budget tip:?

21:28:56 [BetsyAnn] http://allearsnet.com/pl/apass.htm has discounts for AP

21:29:10 [BetsyAnn] Hey alikat!

21:29:14 [MargaretJ] Well except for that coke remark, you are my kind of girl Barb. I hate carry stuff to the parks.

21:29:19 [LimeGreenC] thanks for the link Betsyann

21:29:25 [DisneyPam] yes, MJ.

21:29:26 [alikat] :) hi!

21:29:46 [Joe] Well, we try and to the two trips in 12 months with APs to get the most out of them.

21:29:55 [Barbd] My husband and I share everything so we get twice as many choices. This includes our meals and junk food snacks

21:30:06 [MargaretJ] Matt & I were checking restaurants we wanted to eat this next trip & boy he had alot of them.

21:30:09 [BetsyAnn] great tip Barb -- must not have lived in Atlanta before ;)

21:30:36 [Joe] But I think our bigges budget thing is DVC, it's like we have prepaid for the rooms.

21:30:37 [MargaretJ] So to afford most of them we try to eat our big meals at lunch. Huge money savings.

21:30:38 [LimeGreenC] I really think that if you love Disney like we all do, AP's are the way to go. Especially if you every year

21:30:48 [Barbd] Ive bever been to Atlanta but I have watched Gone with the Wind a lot of times. ;)

21:31:00 [BetsyAnn] lol, BarbD!

21:31:19 [Barbd] I gues Im the odd ball we never do APS

21:31:23 [LimeGreenC] Joe, I keep looking into the DVC, but the maintaince fees are what keep deterring me, seems like a lot of $$$

21:31:30 [MargaretJ] Well it really does not look much like it did during that movie. Well you might find a few houses but most of our roads are paved now. LOL

21:32:00 [LimeGreenC] LOL Barb! great movie

21:32:08 [Barbd] We like to go to Disneyquest and Water parks so AP's arent very cost effective for us

21:32:15 [BetsyAnn] I don't have one either Barbd -- just rarely go twice in one year and we like the Unlimited PH or whatever they are calling it these days and we like to add wishes

21:32:48 [MargaretJ] Have never been to Disneyquest & usually only a water park once a trip at the most.

21:32:49 [Barbd] I do that one too, I can do everything adn we do everything. SO to me its a great budget saver

21:32:56 [Joe] LOL MJ. LGC, true the fees are there but they aren't as much as the room rates would be at a comparable resort.

21:33:00 [DisneyPam] well....what about the PAP, Barb? Depending on how many trips to DQ and the waterparks it can be a good value.

21:33:13 [MargaretJ] My biggest savings though went out the window this year.

21:33:14 [alikat] APs are great for mom and I--we like small (5-6 day trips) two or three times a year. plus we don't like waterparks much

21:33:22 [BetsyAnn] I keep looking at DVC - maybe one of these days!

21:33:28 [Barbd] I live a world away and its too cold to swim here so I take advantage of it everytime I go., I like to go to Typhoon twice and Blizzard at least once each trip

21:33:50 [MargaretJ] I used to get 50% off the rooms but when my company got sold that perk went away this year.

21:33:53 [BetsyAnn] * BetsyAnn would have to get a bigger raise or win the lottery! ;)

21:33:57 [Joe] We'll have to talk about it BA.

21:34:11 [LimeGreenC] Joe, I'm going to keep thinking about it, and we may take a tour in April. That may be the "final straw" for us to buy. LOL

21:34:16 [DisneyPam] very true, Joe...my maint fees are about $650year for 150 pts....that gets me up to 10 nights in a studio at a Deluxe resort as opposed to 10 nights at a value resort.

21:34:29 [BetsyAnn] I know Joe - I know!

21:34:41 [BetsyAnn] :D

21:34:46 [MargaretJ] Oh good Cheri that reminds me of another tip that Alicia gave me. If you take the tour they give you vouchers for lunch.

21:34:53 [DisneyPam] * DisneyPam plans to win the FL lottery on Wednesday

21:34:53 [LimeGreenC] alikat, you're my kind of gal, a couple of trips a year! :)

21:35:11 [alikat] :-D

21:35:13 [Barbd] We generally go for 9 nights to delux and its about $1800 for Beach club for that many nights. $650 sounds good if you can go more often

21:35:18 [BetsyAnn] So are there any more discounts for AP or PAP with the Disney Club gone?

21:35:19 [LimeGreenC] vouchers for lunch? sign me up!

21:35:26 [BetsyAnn] You go Pam!

21:35:27 [alikat] it works out really well for us :)

21:35:49 [MargaretJ] How about desserts. My Matt thinks you have to have a dessert after every meal except breakfast while at Disney.

21:36:05 [Joe] Take the tour LGC, and then work the numbers. As Pam said, hers get her 10 nights in a deluxe resort instead of a value. Just depends on where you want to be.

21:36:12 [LimeGreenC] we never order dessert

21:36:17 [MargaretJ] I finally got him to agree to share most of the time.

21:36:28 [BetsyAnn] I think Matt is absolutely right on this one - and no sharing desserts! :D

21:36:43 [LimeGreenC] * LimeGreenC thinks it would be cool to be a DVC owner :)

21:36:48 [MargaretJ] I can not tour with LimeGreenCheri if she does not order desserts - MJ does not share!!!!!! ha ha ha

21:36:57 [alikat] we splurge on food while in Disney... sort of. we eat at a lot of sit down places, but split the main course and dessert

21:37:11 [Joe] How come no dessert after breakfast MJ? What's the matter with a danish or sweet roll?

21:37:14 [Barbd] Desserts on a budget? Sounds like oymoron, though things like a mickey bar and churro are pretty cheap

21:37:19 [DisneyPam] and when you go, Joe....weeknites vs. weekends, high DVC season vs low...but I'll tell you...I got 2 great studios in Dec for a weekend. One was even an upgraded view.

21:37:20 [LimeGreenC] now Betsy, that is not true! You offered to let me taste of your cheesecake at 'Ohanas :)

21:37:26 [BetsyAnn] I could spilt the entree but never a dessert!

21:37:37 [MargaretJ] I think that is a great idea alikat but my son is a big eater & he does not like to share.

21:37:41 [BetsyAnn] That was one taste - not half! ;)

21:37:48 [MargaretJ] Joe don't give him any ideas.

21:37:51 [alikat] hehe

21:37:57 [LimeGreenC] why order dessert if I can drool over MJ's since she won't share. ;)

21:38:24 [BetsyAnn] I tell you the coffee cake at Donald's Breakfast at AK was a dessert in disguise - wonderful!

21:38:25 [MargaretJ] No drooling either Cheri

21:38:26 [LimeGreenC] barb, Mickey bars are sooooooooooo good!

21:38:30 [Barbd] you all are making me hungry tonight

21:38:42 [Joe] That's very true Pam, there are ways to even budget your points if you do. We hit the jackpot and got 200 given to us for the trip in March. Can't beat that at all.....LOL

21:38:45 [LimeGreenC] geez MJ, you won't let me have any fun!

21:39:04 [MargaretJ] Now Barb you know what ever the subject of our chats we always talk food.

21:39:19 [DisneyPam] thats so cool, Joe...I'm very jealous! I hope to see you during your trip.

21:39:28 [alikat] i have a confessions

21:39:37 [alikat] mom and i have NEVER tried a mickey bar!

21:39:37 [LimeGreenC] too cool Joe!

21:39:39 [MargaretJ] Any other food budget tips?

21:39:51 [LimeGreenC] fess up alikat, we're listening

21:39:52 [Barbd] Im traveling with 7 for my next trip so I need every budget trick I can get

21:39:53 [MargaretJ] alikate honey you are missing out. They are sooooo good.

21:40:02 [BetsyAnn] mickey bars are good but the minnie strawberry bars are better I think!

21:40:04 [MargaretJ] kate=kat

21:40:23 [MargaretJ] Barb I think with 7 you should buy some of those Connection Vouchers & just share.

21:40:24 [BetsyAnn] I think food is the hardest when you are traveling solo

21:40:32 [BetsyAnn] good idea MJ!

21:40:36 [Joe] Pam, Kasey says she still needs to meet you. After the shenanegans we pulled for that trip in July. She still thinks we were headed to your house for a bbq.

21:40:40 [Barbd] I dont quite understand that connections thing

21:40:41 [DisneyPam] very true, BA.

21:40:58 [MargaretJ] Here is a tip that some of you may not know.

21:40:59 [BetsyAnn] lol Joe!

21:41:28 [DisneyPam] ROFLMAO!!!! Did you really tell her that??? Maybe by then I'll be in a new apt down nearer the World.

21:41:40 [Joe] What is that MJ?

21:41:46 [Barbd] Of course one of our 7 wont eata bite of food. Its my grandson who will be born in about 6 or 7 more weeks, He will eat formula I think

21:41:50 [BetsyAnn] I like breakfast buffet late morning and then dinner -- we tend to eat just two meals a day at Disney!

21:42:08 [LimeGreenC] barb, I'm confused on the connections thing too.

21:42:26 [Joe] Hey Pam, It worked.....

21:42:30 [MargaretJ] You can order things ala cart off the menus at fast food. For instance everything comes with fries it seems. You can just order the burger.

21:42:58 [BetsyAnn] how much does that save MJ?

21:43:24 [Barbd] Can pop be refilled in DW? We found out last summer at Disneyland they will refill for free but dont advertise it

21:43:31 [LimeGreenC] I also like the ordering an extra bun tip. I'm going to try that in April

21:43:40 [Joe] That is very true MJ, and a lot of folks wouldn't even think of doing that because it is not called out that way on the menu.

21:43:45 [MargaretJ] You can join Hotwire.com & then order Connections coupons for 11.25 each for lunch or dinner. It gets you entree, side, drink & dessert at most fast food places. Really works great at Beaches & Cream & Coronado Springs.

21:43:53 [DisneyPam] Also..unless you are extremely picky about your H20, you can always ask for a cup of ice water at any counter service restaurant....free and healthier than soda.

21:43:58 [LimeGreenC] Did you just walk up and ask for a refill Barb?

21:44:15 [DisneyPam] Barb - why would you want to refill your father?

21:44:27 [MargaretJ] I usually ask for water that way Barb & Matt will get the large drink. Usually more than enough for the 2 of us.l

21:44:28 [Barbd] Yes Cheri, at California Adventure and they gave my husband a new cup and didnt charge him and told him about it

21:44:36 [Joe] Can't handle the water out of the taps there Pam, have to take my Brita with me when we go.

21:44:41 [BetsyAnn] That is my favorite tip Pam - ice water

21:44:45 [MargaretJ] Funny Pam

21:45:03 [LimeGreenC] I think I'll ask if they give refills and how much they are

21:45:06 [MargaretJ] Water at the restaurants is fine. Water fountains no way.

21:45:19 [DisneyPam] plus, water is much more refresing than soda

21:45:20 [Barbd] They said the new cup was because of sanitation reasons, Saved us about $3

21:45:29 [BetsyAnn] We bought a brita filter pitcher and then could re-fill our water bottles at night and cool them down at night - then ready to go in the am

21:45:29 [LimeGreenC] me either Joe. We even take water to brush our teeth and take our meds

21:45:39 [Joe] And that is a $$ saver too, take a Brita bottle for water and don't spend $2.50 a shot for bottled water from the carts.

21:45:43 [MargaretJ] Cheri you do the bun thing & tell me how it works. I have always been to embarassed to try that.

21:46:02 [Barbd] We do carry a water bottle on a strap to teh parks. That and a camera and thats it!!

21:46:08 [LimeGreenC] I'll try it MJ and I'll try the drink refill too

21:46:23 [LimeGreenC] Now, I can call the trip in April a business trip. LOL :D

21:46:32 [MargaretJ] What are some good places to share meals? Disney is known for large quantities.

21:46:37 [Joe] BA, we drink waaaay more than one bottle a day though. So we just carry the individual Brita bottles. Can refill them from the water fountains.

21:46:57 [MargaretJ] Well at least most places they give lots of food - don't try sharing at Brown Derby you will starve.

21:47:25 [MargaretJ] Cosmic Rays has an absolutely huge Chicken Caesar Salad that is big enough for 2.

21:47:29 [LimeGreenC] The turkey wrap at resturantoursaurs in Dinoland is big enough for 2 I think

21:47:31 [BetsyAnn] Us too joe - we bought a case when we got to Orlando then refilled them every night - about 12 of them a day for tow of us

21:47:43 [BetsyAnn] We also always order water at meals

21:47:59 [LimeGreenC] Fulton's crabhouse, while pricey, has pleanty of food that you could share

21:48:02 [Barbd] We share everywhere!! I even shared at the fancy France restaurant.

21:48:04 [BetsyAnn] Prime Time has huge portions!

21:48:07 [MargaretJ] They have a turkey wrap at Pecos Bill that is huge too.

21:48:15 [MargaretJ] Hey Cruey!!!!

21:48:19 [alikat] the french menu (lunch) at chefs de france

21:48:19 [Cruey] Hello dahlings

21:48:20 [BetsyAnn] Hey Cru!

21:48:27 [Barbd] hi Cruey

21:48:35 [LimeGreenC] Hey Cru and welcome to the Budget chat

21:48:46 [Joe] Hey there Cru! Kasey says hi too....

21:48:46 [BetsyAnn] I love Brown Derby for lunch - had soup, salad and grapefruit cheesecake!

21:48:53 [MargaretJ] Oh alikat I am so glad you mentioned that. How is the french menu. I want to try it.

21:48:56 [Cruey] budget eh? I can do that

21:48:56 [alikat] 14.95 for french onion soup, a 'ham and cheese' sandwich, and creme brulee... and lots of yummy rolls!

21:49:03 [Cruey] Hi kasey dahling

21:49:07 [alikat] MJ, we LOVE it!

21:49:10 [Barbd] We always share and if my husband is still hungry he gets dessert, Generally when you share they give you a second portion of the vegetable or starch if you let them split the plate

21:49:25 [alikat] (have pictures of it coming soon)

21:49:35 [LimeGreenC] alikat, is it a bowl of soup or a cup? I LOVE french onion soup

21:49:37 [Cruey] Hi MJ {{}}

21:49:45 [MargaretJ] Do you think a meat & potatoes 15 year old boy would find something there to eat alikat?

21:50:00 [DisneyPam] Hey Cru! :) What's shakin'?

21:50:14 [MargaretJ] Cruey change your trip please.... it won't be the same without you guys.

21:50:18 [Cruey] Hi pammy...not much

21:50:26 [BetsyAnn] Who would have thought a 15 year old boy would find something at Marekesh (sp?)

21:50:32 [Cruey] I know...come anyway , you live close

21:50:43 [MargaretJ] True but I know he would throw up looking at those onions.

21:50:54 [LimeGreenC] MJ, if that boy will eat Lamb, he'll eat anything LOL

21:51:10 [MargaretJ] Lamb is meat, onions are not meat.

21:51:19 [Cruey] we want to try Marrikesh aslo...maybe the selection isn't good though?

21:51:37 [LimeGreenC] Cru, what is your best budget tip?

21:51:56 [Cruey] hmmmm...my best tip? Let me think

21:51:57 [LimeGreenC] LOL MJ

21:51:58 [MargaretJ] Oh Cruey we ate there in December & it was very good. I think you would like.

21:52:02 [BetsyAnn] Mariikesh was great Cru! very reasonable for lunch - had a great special that included dessert!

21:52:08 [Barbd] Is that the Morroco one? We tried it and loved it. I hate cinnamon and thought ewww whne I read the discriptions but it was so good I cant wait to go again next trip

21:52:18 [LimeGreenC] and you cannot pick selling puppies to pay for the trip. ;)

21:52:32 [MargaretJ] Teppanyaki is a great place to eat especially at lunch. The prices are very reasonable & lots of food.

21:52:49 [Cruey] I guess my best tip is that it's ok to go off property to eat to save money if you have a car

21:52:53 [BetsyAnn] yes, barbD

21:53:05 [MargaretJ] I know what you mean Barb. Cinnamon on a beef pasty roll did not sound good but oh my it was tasty.

21:53:19 [LimeGreenC] alikat, I can't wait to see pictures of the soup, I may have to add that to my list :)

21:53:21 [Cruey] darn, Cheri, I would never sell a puppy...I might sell an old coat though

21:53:36 [BetsyAnn] I always wondered if you ate dinner off site if it would really safe money

21:53:43 [MargaretJ] We don't make it offf property to eat much. Have to many onsite places I want to try

21:53:48 [Barbd] We got a sampler plate and tried a lot of things. My favorite was one of those bastillias and couscous. I make COuse couse all the time now that I found that in the store

21:53:51 [LimeGreenC] LOL Cru

21:54:09 [BetsyAnn] safe=save - geesh cru you come in and I can't type! :D

21:54:22 [LimeGreenC] there are several resturants at Crossroads that I've earned gift certificates for and that saves money

21:54:22 [MargaretJ] I was not crazy about the couscous but loved the vegetable rice at Marrakesh.

21:54:26 [Cruey] :) it's a talent, Besty

21:54:37 [MargaretJ] OK here is a tip for those that like Rainforest Cafe.

21:54:43 [Cruey] I love rice except in pudding

21:54:48 [BetsyAnn] I got that too, BarbD it was great-- Matt's lamb looked and smelled great and he ate it to the bone!

21:55:05 [Joe] I have always thought the trouble of getting off site and then back on would negate any real savings.....

21:55:21 [LimeGreenC] * LimeGreenC does not eat meat off the bone. YUCK!

21:55:24 [MargaretJ] Join the club of course but if you have a Joe's Crab Shack near you buy gift certificates every once in a while. They are good at RFC.

21:55:40 [BetsyAnn] that was my thought Joe -- we rarely rent a car!

21:55:47 [BetsyAnn] Ate at Joe's last night!

21:55:48 [Barbd] Limegrees not even thouse huge turkey drum sticks? Makes you feel so Flinstone to eat them.

21:55:50 [MargaretJ] Cheri is weird.

21:55:53 [Cruey] not really Joe...most places are not that far away, we go to the Crossroads a lot and it's almost across from Dwontown Diseny

21:55:57 [Joe] Now LGC, what do you do with Fried Chicken?

21:56:18 [MargaretJ] I swear those are not Turkey they taste like salty ham to me. Yucky!!!!

21:56:29 [LimeGreenC] I buy boneless skinless chicken :D

21:56:34 [BetsyAnn] They are smoked turkey legs!

21:56:41 [Barbd] I think they taste like ham too, I beleve its the smoking process that causs that

21:56:47 [MargaretJ] You do not eat fried chicken?????

21:56:54 [Cruey] I do not eat anything that has a bone..ever ick

21:56:55 [Joe] Will take that under advisement Cru Dear. Just have never done it.

21:56:56 [Barbd] causs = causes

21:57:04 [LimeGreenC] you know when you're eating chicken off the bone, and you get close to the bone and those little veins "snap back" at ya? GROSS AMUNDO! gag!

21:57:19 [Joe] Think you are right barb

21:57:20 [BetsyAnn] lol cheri!

21:57:20 [Cruey] I don't MJ..unless it's with a knife and fork so I don't have to touch it

21:57:43 [DisneyPam] Well, I guess Cheri isn't going to come to my show at Dixie....lol

21:57:45 [Cruey] ewwwwwwwwwwww gaga gagaga...I agree Cheri and that is why I don't eat it

21:57:52 [MargaretJ] I really don't eat fried chicken either but that is just cause I don't know how to make fried chicken.

21:57:56 [Joe] Don't know about you two. Guy food has bones in it.....

21:58:07 [BetsyAnn] So what is the cheapest you think one could do a week trip to WDW?

21:58:19 [MargaretJ] RFC has the best Ribs

21:58:30 [LimeGreenC] LOL JOe

21:58:46 [LimeGreenC] including tickets or not Betsy?

21:58:54 [Cruey] in Value season or high season?

21:59:18 [Barbd] Cheapest from Washington? Airfare probably $150 in an off season and a lot of transfers, An offsite hotel is probably about $250 for a week, Food in your room most of the time and few meals out maybe another $200 per person. Admission for a week is abotu $300

21:59:21 [BetsyAnn] well, I think you must inclued tickets because how much fun can you have not going into the parks - you know for a Park Ranger! ;)

21:59:24 [BetsyAnn] Value!

21:59:25 [Cruey] with a car or without?

21:59:34 [Joe] Well BA, if we did food in the room and stayed DVC the cost would be just park tickets.....

21:59:37 [Cruey] drive or fly?

21:59:38 [MargaretJ] You could probably eat on $25.00 a day if you ate Fast Food for all meals & snacks.

21:59:46 [Barbd] Oh ya forgot the transfer price about $70 round trip

21:59:59 [MargaretJ] No you could have an AP that you bought from last years trip.

22:00:01 [Barbd] Joe but you have to include your yearly fee

22:00:27 [Cruey] 25 a day? maybe...I think 100 a day for the 3 of us is pretty low

22:00:42 [Barbd] I think were at about $1000 for a week

22:00:45 [LimeGreenC] I think that including an AP and a value resort, I could do it for $700

22:00:49 [BetsyAnn] If we would have had AP for december they would have expired by the trip for coming December!

22:01:22 [Cruey] ok...just the room alone at the All Satrs would be about 500 bucks

22:01:30 [MargaretJ] That is low Cruey for 3 of you. You don't always eat breakfast do you>

22:01:43 [BetsyAnn] I still see it for about $1000 including airfare and everything

22:01:45 [Barbd] Driving is not an option from Washington, It would take a week of driving round trip in addition to the week there so flying is cheaper Im sure factoring in hotels

22:01:47 [LimeGreenC] I paid $54.88 for my room at allstars in Dec

22:01:51 [LimeGreenC] per night

22:01:57 [Cruey] no we don't...Michael does but Mike and I don't bother with breakfats

22:02:05 [Joe] Ok folks, I have a 4 AM alarm so have to go tuck my pointy head into bed. Great talking with you. Pammy, will have to see what we can work out for gettiing together. Will be there 18 - 27 Mar. Take care all.

22:02:19 [Cruey] ta ta Joe my pet

22:02:21 [Barbd] $55 a night is still about $350 for lodging

22:02:27 [BetsyAnn] Good night Joe!

22:02:28 [MargaretJ] I can fly for 40.00 RT, if we get to go in Dec I am going to try to get a pass for Cheri also.

22:02:35 [LimeGreenC] Nite JOE! thanks for coming

22:02:42 [MargaretJ] Night Joe.

22:02:44 [Joe] Take care Cru, Kasey says good night too,

22:02:56 [Barbd] My $1000 estimate factored $250 for hotel

22:03:06 [LimeGreenC] what happened to "I can't plan that far ahead?" MJ ;)

22:03:17 [Cruey] we have to pay $121 a night at easter for Pop Century

22:03:34 [BetsyAnn] Airfare is fairly high from Denver -

22:03:40 [LimeGreenC] I'm taking into account possibly sharing a room

22:03:41 [Barbd] I did my budget for 7 next August, were staying at Shades of Green 5 nights and an offsite near Sea Wrold 2 nights. Its going to run about $7000 conservatively

22:03:46 [MargaretJ] I said IF>>>>>>>

22:03:53 [Barbd] Right now the air fare is about $311 per person

22:03:59 [Cruey] hey! If you stay off site in a dump you can stay for $20 a night..I've seen the signs on 192

22:04:06 [LimeGreenC] what are your dates Cru?

22:04:15 [DisneyPam] Wow, Cru!

22:04:16 [MargaretJ] Didn't you get a discount for that period Cruey. Did you check MouseSavers.

22:04:19 [LimeGreenC] LOL MJ

22:04:32 [Barbd] Beacuse we are traveling with two children in car seats we only want a non stop and its Alaska Airlines as our only choice. if we fly middle of the night its $311 and day time its $354

22:04:37 [Cruey] April 7 or 8th to 18

22:04:43 [BetsyAnn] when MJ - when! ;)

22:04:50 [LimeGreenC] I got POP for $74 a night April 8 and 9

22:04:56 [BetsyAnn] That is peak season, right Cru!

22:05:00 [Cruey] is there a discount out for Easter???

22:05:12 [BetsyAnn] Hey SuzyQ!

22:05:13 [Barbd] Cruey in 1998 we did a $25 night place our last night to take advantage of last day in teh park length of stay pass. I was never so scared in my life

22:05:14 [LimeGreenC] wow Barb that is expensive

22:06:24 [BetsyAnn] no problem SuzyQ!

22:06:26 [LimeGreenC] Suzy, no need to apologize

22:06:26 [SuzyQ] Re: that rate for spring - I posted the code in the Budget room

22:06:27 [Barbd] Lime green in 2002 we got round trip for $136 round trip, I think 9/11 helped get us a cheap flight that time. Its normally abou $300 for us to fly unless we agree to change planes at least on\ce or twice

22:06:34 [Cruey] I have an annual pass....
